In the earlier chapters Johnny killed a Socs and ran away to the Country with Ponyboy, were they were living for about a week and they were scared and Dally hooked them up with the old church that his cousin told him about once and Dally said, “he will come and see them in a couple days time.” When Dally came too see them he gave a letter to Ponyboy that Soda had given him and in the letter it said a lot about how Scared they were and how sorry Darry was for hitting him the night of the murder, So Dally took Ponyboy and Johnny out for a bite to eat and came back to see that church was on fire and there were a bunch of small kids that came up there for a picnic. Then Dally hits him across the back and he passes out. He hears Johnny scream inside the church.
